APEX founder, Dan DuBrow, has taught and tutored advanced/AP math and science courses for the past 20+ years. He has taught and tutored students of all ages and ability levels. His expertise focuses on high school and college level courses in math and physics. Dan was nominated for the Golden Apple award in teaching and has consistently received “excellent” ratings in professional evaluations.  Dan holds a degree in Physics from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and master’s degrees in Education from National Louis University and Montana State University.
Tutors Jen Jennifer Boller is a science teacher with 17 years of experience. Her areas of expertise are in the biological sciences and in chemistry. She has tutored extensively across science subjects from middle school to college level. She holds a degree in Biology from The Ohio State University, as well as a Masters in Education from OSU.
Tutors Pat Pat Marshall has taught and tutored Geometry and Physics for 15 years. Prior to his teaching career he worked as a civil engineer working on a variety of projects from roads to wastewater treatment plants. His areas of expertise are in all levels of physics ranging from Conceptual Physics to AP Physics C. Pat holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign along with a Master’s Degree in Education from Benedictine University.
Tutors Meredith Meredith Hepburn has been teaching science for the past 18 years in traditional and virtual classrooms She has taught Biology (AP) , Environmental Science (AP) and Chemistry at the middle and high school level and Environmental Science at the college level. She is a graduate of University of Illinois with a B.S. in Biology, DePaul University with an M. Ed in Teaching and Learning and holds a National Boards Teaching Certificate.
Tutors Mark Lawton Mark Lawton is an Electrical Engineer by training. He has two bachelors degrees as well as a Masters in Engineering from Berkeley and a Masters in Liberal Arts from the Great Books program at St. Johns College. Mark was the recipient of a Klingenstein Fellowship in teaching from Columbia University and the Esther Dayman Strong Lectureship in the Humanities.  Mark has over twenty years of experience teaching all levels of high school math, physics, and computer science.
Tutors Zach Zachary Cohen is a mathematics specialist from Chicago, IL. He attended Purdue University, where he achieved a Bachelor’s of Science in Mathematics. Zachary has taught predominately high school and early college students in the United States, Australia, and Ireland. His enthusiasm, experience, and love of the material are just a few of the reasons why Zachary has been able to achieve such consistent positive results.
tutor Kasia Pomian has had a passion for teaching Physics and Mathematics for over 7 years. She has been teaching all levels: from middle school to university level courses. She is currently a teaching assistant at DePaul University, teaching introductory physics for first year physics
majors. Kasia is conducting Physics Education Research with a focus on metacognitive improvements for  underrepresented STEM majors including deaf and hard of hearing students and first generation students. Kasia holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Spanish from Loyola University; she is also currently pursuing her Master of Science in Physics and Master of Arts in Education at DePaul University.
DavidSchalek2 David Schalek is a high school physics teacher with over 20 years of teaching and tutoring experience. David holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics and Astronomy from the University of Arizona, and a Master of Arts in Teaching degree in Physics from UCLA. David is a National Board Certified teacher, and he is also the recipient of the Petrick Award for Excellence in Education. David offers tutoring in all levels of high school physics and astronomy. David lives in Hermosa Beach, California.
CarmenAndrews Carmen Andrews has more than 20 years of experience as a STEM teacher. She has taught general science, AP biology, IB biology, honors biology, microbiology, chemistry, Earth science, physical science, environmental science, astronomy, meteorology, marine biology, oceanography, computer science, general mathematics and algebra.
